By “heart disease” I mean coronary artery disease, the accumulation of atherosclerotic tissue in the heart’s arteries that is responsible for heart attacks, sudden cardiac death, and that leads to procedures such as stent implantation and bypass surgery.
Talk to most doctors and their understanding begins and ends at “reducing cholesterol,” a concept that should have been abandoned decades ago since superior methods of identifying risk have emerged. The problem: Misinformed doctors and the pharmaceutical industry found it too easy and profitable to simply dispense drugs to “reduce cholesterol.” The tragedy is that the REAL causes of heart disease are ignored and therefore not managed.
The truth is that identifying risk is easy. Reducing or even eliminating risk is also easy, but you just need to adopt a handful of new practices, all detailed here.
